It highlights Britain’s real plight, we are no longer the cutting edge technological hub we were before the great wars and entrepreneurship has been stifled by a nanny state.
Britain doesn’t want to be an ordinary country. The vote for Brexit was part of that identity.
However, another fundamental part of Britain keeping the great power illusion alive is living it vicariously through her progeny the United States.
This ends with Britain stripping herself back to her mid 17th Century essence – the 51st state of the United States. The only reason Britain came back from her defeat in 1940 was because she mortgaged herself in her entirety to America
While America is in the initial stages of socialising the concept of Canada as the 51st State, the arguments advanced for this proposition are just as applicable to the British Isles
That will be Anglosphere Gaullism when it crystallises in the decades to come.
