Description

The Econoclasts are bringing their hit economics podcast to London! Yanis Varoufakis and Wolfgang Münchau don’t always agree politically, but they are united in one conviction: the consensus is rotten. Mainstream economics has consistently failed to predict the events that shape our world, yet this broken orthodoxy still dominates. In this exclusive live recording they will break down the big players on the world stage and ask: which powers will dominate the new world order?

  1. Am I in to the livestream ? I’m a member of Unherd and also paid for an attendance in person. I now can’t get there but can watch on livestream.

  2. A vast array of topics to pick from that will define the global realignment, AI and China not least.
And Yanis embarks on… a long meandering rant about Hah-zzah and Israel. Not impressive, I’m afraid.

  3. A riveting evening. Two points of contention:

The suggestion of South African judges leading a “TRC 2.0” is alarming. Given the deep-seated corruption uncovered by the Zondo Commission and the systemic failure to curb the world’s highest murder rate, the bench lacks the perceived impartiality required for such a mandate. We need to be realistic about the current state of South African institutional integrity.

After 30 years in software, I’m convinced service sector productivity is vital for the UK’s growth. It is harder to quantify than manufacturing, but it is real. Take your London Symphony example: while the live performance is fixed in time, the “output” can be exponentially scaled via digital marketing, viral content, or merch and vinyl sales. In these cases, productivity—measured as revenue output per total factor input—increases dramatically without changing the core labor.
