The conversation became a bit puerile when discounting threats of Iran and China. Of course, transcontinental military invasion is unthinkable, unimagineable, even fantastic. But restraint of trade, embargo, and adversarial control of sea lanes is very real in today’s environment. At some level, these are real threats one or two steps from where we are today. A more useful discussion may have been just how can transparency and depth-of-understanding be achieved, and how might such changes help to correct the ‘us vs. them’ compulsion being amplified by political influencers.

This was GREAT! Bravo Emily.
