Is there a migrant crimewave?

Description

In the wake of the Huntingdon train stabbing and ensuing online reaction, UnHerd’s Freddie Sayers sits down with journalist for The Times Fraser Nelson to analyze the growing perception of a violent, migrant-driven crimewave in the UK. Responding to disputed data from the Ministry of Justice that foreigners are convicted of up to 23% of sex crimes, as well the rise in low-level crime and isolated atrocities, Nelson argues against the narrative and details how violent crime, including knife attacks and murder, has actually been in a steep decline, reaching multi-decade lows even as immigration has doubled. Is the migrant crimewave real or is there a stark disconnect between the statistical reality and the public’s fear?

  1. Ohhhhhhh…. As a rich country we have a moral duty to the rest of the world. Don’t bother listening after 23 mins in.
Forget Fraser Nelson forever, he is beyond help.
PS How strange, 8 votes have disappeared

      1. I am sure the girls of Rotherham will feel much better now they know they have done their patriotic duty

  2. I appreciated a look at the stats. Certainly food for thought. Thanks for having Fraser on to give his thoughts.

  3. What people like Fraser always miss is that every single crime committed by an illegal migrant was additive to crime in our community and totally unnecessary if we had strong borders and zero illegal migrants.
We need to be much better at screening and vetting legal migrants as well.
The whistleblowers from the Home Office being forced to approve asylum claims for some illegal migrants (90% now destroy their ID papers before they arrive) who have already committed offences, including horrific sexual offences here and in other countries does not bode well for future statistics.
These are not good people and we do no need them here.
Fraser will never have to live in the communities with large migrant populations (apart from tony areas with the gazillionaire migrants) so he can keep his luxury beliefs, the rest of us face reality.
